The problem
The beds along the water had been planted once and never edited. Twelve years on, three shrubs had taken over everything else, the edging had disappeared under mulch, and the whole frontage read as green mass rather than garden.
What we did
We cleared what was not working, kept the two mature specimens worth keeping, and replanted in layers so there is something doing the work in every season. Stone edging went back in at a proper depth so beds hold their line, and the whole run was mulched to an even finish.
Because the site slopes to the water, bed levels were adjusted so rain soaks in rather than running mulch onto the path.
The result
A frontage that reads as designed from the house, from the dock and from the road. Two weeks on site, start to finish.
